SINGING KETTLE CREATOR ARTIE TREZISE HEADLINES CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT BILL AT LENZIE GALAFEST

Lenzie GalaFest are delighted to announce that we have partnered with First Group to bring along Artie’s Tartan Tales as the main children’s entertainment act to the event this year.

Artie’s Tartan Tales” is a unique, interactive musical show, created and performed by the founder and star of the children’s entertainment phenomenon “The Singing Kettle”. If you remember going to these shows as a youngster then this is an event not to be missed. Artie’s Tartan Tales weaves traditional children’s stories and songs into an engaging and entertaining experience for all the family and will be run in three half hour sessions across the afternoon from a dedicated entertainments tent and the best thing of all is that the tickets to enter will be free.

Lynne Jhangeer, Sponsorship Team Leader, had this to say:

“I first saw Artie’s Tartan Tales at another event and knew that we had to bring this unique offering to be a part of our 40th anniversary celebrations. The three, FREE sessions for children and families will cater to kids of all ages and this is kindly supported by First Group. I remember many a trip to see The Singing Kettle as a youngster and the GalaFest team are really excited to welcome Artie to Lenzie. We hope that the families within the community really enjoy it.”

Artie and his beloved wife Cilla started working together in the early 70’s as a folk duo with tours across the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and the Far East proving just how popular their music and personalities were. This led to the formation of their company called Kettle Records and in a short twelve month period the duo went from performing in small theatres across the country to a Christmas session at the Royal Concert Hall.  During this time they held the box office record of 32 sell-outs there and went on to hold the record at the Scottish Exhibition Centre too. Add in some more touring with 200 shows per year, a DVD, TV opportunities and fifteen years of memorable performances Artie set out on his solo shows in 2013 and continues to ensure that children continue to enjoy the great songs we’ve come to love for years to come.

Artie gives us his thoughts on the day itself:

“I really love doing shows in the community and the Lenzie Gala Show is right up my street.  It’s a busy day for everyone so it’s nice to be able to drop in with the whole family for a wee singalong.  The shows are quite short for good reason.  It is ideal for those who can only stay a short time but for those who want more they can stay on for the next show because they are all different.  For me it’s the idea opportunity to meet the audience in an intimate setting.”

Lenzie GalaFest will be held at Lenzie Rugby Club on 24th August 2019. The procession will leave from Lenzie train station at 12pm and the event will run until 4pm. Lenzie GalaFest is a local event brought to you by Lenzie Community Council, a small team of dedicated volunteers and our wonderful sponsors, which is designed to bring together and celebrate the community of Lenzie. LENZIE GALA QUEEN & CHAMPION CROWNING TO TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY 30th May 2019

The first event linked to GalaFest 2019 will be the crowning of this year’s Gala Queen and Gala Champion which is happening TODAY and will be hosted by the team at Lenzie Meadow Primary School.
Lenzie’s “Royal Family” is made up of children from our local primary schools. This year the Gala Queen is Lucy Stevenson & our Gala Champion is Kai Kahlon-Andrew both from Lenzie Meadow P.S. Our royal attendants are Maids of Honour Sarah from Millersneuk P.S and Morven Jackson from Holy Family P.S. Our Paige boy is Jack Hood also from Lenzie Meadow P.S.
We are sure that it will be a great day with the host Primary School putting on a wonderful occasion for the local children to enjoy including singing, poems and speeches.

We will be joined by Guests of Honour Liz Ibbotson, veteran of Lenzie Gala Day organisation throughout its history, who will be delivering a short speech on the importance of this event and our 40th anniversary celebrations. Christine Morrison will also join us having recently taken a step back from organising the Gala Queen crowning ceremony. Christine has proven to be an invaluable asset in making this event a great success during her time and will continue to offer advice and guidance to the new team members.

Paul King, Gala Convenor, had this to say:
All of the team have been working hard on making the 40th Lenzie Galafest a day to remember. The whole day is about the Lenzie community and children enjoying themselves. None of this would be possible without the dedication of a team of only 6 or 7 individuals who bring this all together. In years to come I hope that all the children involved in being part of the Lenzie ‘Royal Family’ will share their memories with others and inspire them to become involved. I cannot thank everyone involved up until now enough for all the effort that they put in and cannot wait to see the 40th Lenzie Galafest in full swing later this year.

Lenzie GalaFest will be held at Lenzie Rugby Club on 24th August 2019. The procession will leave from Lenzie train station at 12pm and the event will run until 4pm.
