Aldi new store proposal

Aldi – Kirkintilloch

Lenzie Community Council has been contacted by Aldi Stores regarding their proposals to develop a new store to serve the communities of Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and Woodilee along with the surrounding area. A computer-generated image of the proposed store, together with the location plan are shown.

Aldi have set up a website to allow local residents and all those with an interest in the proposals to find out more about their plans, and provide feedback. The address for this is: www.aldiconsultation.co.uk/kirkintilloch. You can use the β€˜Have Your Say’ form on the website to submit your comments, there is also an email address or a telephone number if that is easier for you.
Aldi will also be hosting a live online consultation event between 6pm and 8pm on Monday 11th January 2021. Representatives of Aldi and their advisers will be in attendance at this event to answer any queries and receive feedback.

The consultation period will remain open until 22nd January 2021, after which Aldi hope to lodge a planning application with East Dunbartonshire Council at the end of January 2021. Aldi’s proposals are for a 1,820 sqm food store (a similar size to their Milngavie store), with 93 parking bays and 8 cycle spaces. Should Aldi achieve planning approval, they would hope to have the store open as early as Christmas 2022. Aldi have advised us that up to 35 local jobs would be created within the store.
